I got this really interesting stone candle holder from my brother and his wife for Christmas .. it is fun to look at and this picture does not give it justice but there will be more to come .. and it is sitting in front of my Buddha that Sarah brought me back from India. I was actually taking a couple of pictures for the Butterfly Warrior blog and this image caught my eye as I left the room.

You realize she is growing up quickly and changing every time you see her. You heart fills up and is always in awe. She is an inspiration. She is a gift of joy. Thank you my friend for allowing me that gift of being there.

Some days you have to slow down and evaluate and some days it has to take more than just one. The camera is always with me but recently my muse has had me preoccupied with understanding a few really important things about me.

I do not want to dig into the past like a did a couple of weeks ago to fill the void. So if there are a couple of days this month with a void I can deal with that. The itch is there. It is coming back now. I have my mind and body back in sync and on track so soon ... soon I will be back.

Thank you for the taking the time to visit and I hope to see you back here enjoying the beauty in my world.

the world beings a new

I am and always have been a water person. I am at home in the water whether on, in or below. When I have lived by the ocean I have been the most at peace in my world. For me it is here that the world can begin again. There is always a cleansing that appeals to my mind, my heart and my soul. For water mirrors the world, yet is untouched by the images it carries, while in its core the heart of life beats as strong as it did in the beginning.

This is the last of the reflection series for this go around. I hope that you found a sliver of thought in the images and contemplations. That there maybe you glimpsed into the beauty as I see it and learned a little bit about my world. Time on the computer will become sparse in the upcoming days but I have every intention of taking photos and posting them I can. this one leaf floating in the shallows captured my mind as it was not a reflection of those above it but rather a reflection that mirrors a large part of my world. I am often in a leadership position but have managed to shrug that role a couple of times in my life. usually though I lead a team which means when I divest myself of work I often seek shelter in the quite solitary world .. sometimes by choice other times because that is the die that I have cast myself.

don't get me wrong because I love people but there is a limit to how much I can take before I flee for a breather.

this maple leaf at its end was not floating with the multitude of others but rather taking a breather ... finding its way in the currents and brushed by koi. looking for a resting place unique to itself.

is it sad that I identify with this solitary leaf?

Limped my way around the gardens yesterday in my splint and a theme of photographs quickly appeared. It is why I travel with little to no agenda ... if you let life happen it can show you the world in a completely different way than expected if you are open to it.

So the photographs unfolded and this week, mixed in with some more family posts I will share a few reflections of beauty in this ever changing world we live in. Or at least beauty as I behold it. Enjoy your Sunday.

Wish list for someone who loves taking photos ... yep that is me and this is my little dream wish list:

So essentially I need about $20,000 in gift cards for this store FWC! Which is why I have a problem when people ask me what I want. I mean there are needs but if I cannot afford the needs then how am I ever going to get the wants. So I just keep on going with what I have until something remarkable happens ... and it has ... I have my 7D. I would love a second so I could have two with lenses at the same time but why be greedy ... right?

But there is this little video camera that I would love to have and start playing with. I did film/radio/tv in college the first time I was there at UST. It was and still is a love. Shooting little vlogs for the Losing It blog has been fun as one shot takes but I want to get back into editing. So I will add this one last thing to my wish list.

Sinterklaas

A beautiful angel whispered in my ear this evening that Sinterklaas had stopped by her house. Life was getting in the way and then another little angel giggled in the background and my heart melted. That is my story and I am sticking too it.

So I went to see those two beautiful angels whose gorgeous voices had tiptoed through my heart. Sure enough another wise beautiful angel who calls the northern climate home where Sinterklaas lives must have urged him to not forget this man in Texas. So I graciously give thanks to the man who tiptoes through the Low Countries and many of those who were part of the Dutch Empire.

The fact that on the whim of this wise beautiful angle who encouraged Sinterklaas to make a trip over to America after he had finished his rounds in the European Continent on Saint Nicholas' Eve is testament the the greatness of these angels.

my cousin and his beautiful lady ... just love the expression on his face. Regardless of the day, the time, the season, the reason this man can make me smile. Two years younger than me (except for two days every year when he is three years younger) we went to the University of St Thomas for a period of time together. Fun times. Plus we have a routine from that period of time that is a family joke ... Lord forgive those outside the family who are privy to the times Nick and I get together and don't understand.

She is just adorable. Well she is. She can pull off the peace loving pink elephant costume like no one else in the world possibly could.

So here is this brilliant 17 month old where if you ask her what animals do or say she has so many down pat. This is the usual what does an elephant do/say ... the arm goes up and the little lips purse together to make the sound of an elephant. Love that here she actually grabbed the trunk.

What did I say ... cutest ... elephant ..... EVER! Well to me at least.

where many rivers and tributaries run through it ... past closed mills and worn down buildings yet the hearts of the people there are strong. the faces crest with worn smiles but there is a genuine nature in those smiles not forced or hiding true feelings. a working town with working people. these are the places that created this country and let them not be forgotten.
